I shot the Theatre Fundraiser with Carlie and Zac. Theatre is absolutely my favorite thing to shoot. Settings were easy to adjust and I didn't have to edit too much. ISO: 1600 APERTURE: 4.5 SHUTTER SPEED: 1/160 I love the rule of thirds in this photo. It was hard trying to keep detail in her black dress and cardigan against the black back drop with making her shine because she's so pale. I took a ton of photos of Catherine and she was my favorite to shoot and watch.  ISO: 1600 APERTURE: 4.5 SHUTTER SPEED: 1/125 I love the angle in this picture. I walked down the catwalks in the upstairs of the theatre. I had to politely talk my way into getting to take shots upstairs from the sound booth and along the sides, but I'm really glad I did or I wouldn't have these shots. 

I have had my first "assignment" today.  I have to go shoot headshots of Coach Spencer, Mr. Harris and Mr. Lawson.  Since Coach Spencer wasn't on campus I only got two. These were the two that were used of mine.  ISO:1000 APERTURE: 5.6 SHUTTER SPEED: 1/100 These aren't my favorite pictures at all. I used these settings because they were on the board for us to use for this assignment. The pictures were supposed to be in black and white, but that's not an excuse to take a badly exposed picture. This past week I snagged Ruth Arnold aside and asked her to help me out. We shot a drumline practice, a friend of our skateboarding (which was probably the hardest thing I've ever done) and on my own, I took photos from the Hope Watermelon Festival and my friends. These are just a few things that came out of it. I feel like I still don't completely know what I'm doing with settings, but it's a lot better than before.  None of these have been edited.  ISO: 320 APERTURE: 16 SHUTTER SPEED: 1/50 I think the exposure in this picture is pretty alright. It's focused and you can see detail. You can't really see his face, but this isn't going in the yearbook anyway.  ISO:1000 APERTURE: 3.5 SHUTTER SPEED: 1/30 This photo could have been so much better. So, this is me attempting to better myself by practicing and just messing around. Most everything ended up like poop. That's okay, I'm learning. Like Smith says, "Makes mistakes now. Not when school starts." Here's my fail attempts at something even decent. ISO: 3200 APERTURE: 2.8 SHUTTER SPEED: 1/4 To start, worrying about the background was tricky. Since my subject was a cat, I had to catch shots at the right moment. Moving Jill, my lovely subject, wouldn't have quite worked out. I don't think it was a completely terrible background anyway, considering you really can't make it out.  I don't like that the right side is super light while the left is super dark. I've had this problem before. (I'm not on an iMac with Lightroom to edit/tone, so give me a break.) I probably took over 50 different pictures of this exact angle just experimenting with different elements, but this was one of the only few that turned out decent. T...

Overall, I feel like these pictures were way too bright. Better too bright, than too dark! ISO: 800 APERTURE: 11 SHUTTER SPEED: 1/1600 Elizabeth on the far left is cut off. The colors on Colleen, (pink poncho), pop. I shot a lot of crap, but this seemed alright other than Smith growing out of Colleen's shoulder.  ISO: 800 APERTURE: 11 SHUTTER SPEED: 1/320 Sabrina is growing out of Morgan's face. The emotions are the best part of this picture, though. If I caught Morgan with her eyes open, then that would've been even better.  ISO: 800 APERTURE: 11 SHUTTER SPEED: 1/500 This was funny because it was without a doubt posed. The sky looks pretty, though. 

Just FYI; I feel like I am sitting in a saggy diaper just from taking these pictures. I didn't realize it rained when I volunteered for this assignment, but I feel better about some of these photos compared to the passed two days. My assignment was the "Get Dirty" assignment. I had to take everything from an ant's perspective. ISO: 800 APERTURE: 2.5 SHUTTER SPEED: 1/8000 I took this from under the giant Texas High star. I laid in a puddle. ISO: 800 SHUTTER SPEED: 1/8000 APERTURE: F/1.8 I honestly really enjoyed taking headshots today, but I can see how that would get unenjoyable.  This wasn't originally my favorite photo that I had taken today. It had a huge contrast where on the left it was extremely dark, but on the right it was extremely light. I ended up fixing most of it in Lightroom.  I still don't like how she has a shadow across the forehead, but I didn't want to tweak it too much and ruin the photo.  I had a hard time trying to keep glares and overexposed spots out of my photos. Out of around 50 of my photos, I ended up keeping about 6.  I think my biggest problem with headshots will be finding the right lighting. I did learn the when using the rule of thirds, have your model face more towards the middle of the photo.
